Growing Your Hair Long Naturally Takes Commitment, Discipline, Tender Loving Care and Patience

How many times have you had your hair snipped too short? To make you feel worse, did your hair stylist then advise you to keep your hair short anyway as it was dry, a little frizzy and had split ends? As for me, I felt my self-confidence being thrown out of the window. And it was more depressing when I had a special dinner date or function to go to.

Then I felt so down when I realised my hair was falling off like 30-40 strands almost every day.

In my case, out of desperation and thinking I was going bald, I resorted myself to expensive salon treatments and used chemically induced hair treatment products on my hair. All these products were not suitable for my scalp and made my scalp condition worse. Even after paying hundreds of dollars, I ended up with an irritated scalp and little hair to style and flick.

I looked up lots of information and talked to some friends and relatives. I began to explore a variety of natural ingredients on my scalp and hair. I also explored some massage techniques.

What I want to share here is, I discovered that during my journey to save my crowning glory, finding and using the right techniques and right natural ingredients were not enough. It took my consistent commitment, discipline, tender loving care for my scalp and hair, as well as patience to reach my goal. I wanted long, healthy, luscious and great looking hair.

Commitment

How much do you want healthy and fabulously looking long luscious hair, without using expensive chemically induced solutions? Will you be committed for about two years, to persistently go through all trials and errors to find the right mix of natural ‘recipes’ for your unique hair type? Will you be committed to use this recipe every day? What if you are a busy working woman or mother?

Then for best results, will you be committed to maybe jotting down some notes to monitor your results at each phase? Or if you know how you are living, what you are eating or drinking is negatively affecting the health of your scalp and hair will you be totally committed to make a change in your lifestyle and diet?

I committed about two years to find and use the right scalp massaging techniques, complemented with mixing and matching some natural ingredients to accelerate my hair at twice the speed.

Discipline

You need to discipline yourself to keep to a consistent schedule or routine to care for your scalp and hair. Can you wake up like 30-45 minutes earlier every morning to give your scalp a little oil massage? Then you will need to allocate time to shampoo your hair, rinse and give it time to dry naturally?

I am a busy working mother with two bubbly kids. So to be more organized, before I go to bed every night, I get my hair care stuff like my hair band, honey, a particular kind of oil, my hair towel, my comb and hairbrush all nicely arranged on my dressing table or under my bathroom mirror, ready for the next morning when I wake up.

It will help even better to also plan ahead and get ready what you want to wear to work the next day. Put all these neatly and sorted out in the same convenient place every night before going to bed. It saves time and is less stressful in the mornings, which in fact indirectly, helps to revive your scalp condition.

Then you should need to rotate the ingredients or the recipes you use like every once in two or three weeks, depending on the results and your hair type. Hence, you need to take some notes to keep track.

To be honest, to really know what works and what does not work for your unique type of hair, it is better to keep a record. Otherwise, you may end up wasting precious time and effort yet still not finding the best remedy or recipe for your scalp and hair.

Then, throughout the day, after exposing your hair to maybe the air-conditioner, the smoke, the sun, the heat, the cold air, the wind or dry air, to hair styling chemicals and gadgets, it is a must to give your exhausted scalp and hair a rejuvenating massage and spa at the end of a long day. Yes, even if you are exhausted from a long day’s work or back late after a great party time.

And if you have stuff like hair gel on your hair, you must gently remove it to let your hair and scalp breathe as you snooze. You can actually massage your scalp in the shower and while you soak in the tub. Take your time, let yourself and your hair rest and relax. This feels great!

Tender Loving Care

Love your hair! Handle your hair with tender loving care. Your hair is fragile, breaks and splits quite easily. Your hair screams for moisture to be restored back to life, after being burned and blown by your hair dryer. Please avoid combing or brushing your hair when it is wet – this is your hair’s most fragile state.

In fact, do comb or brush your hair before you wet it or wash it to minimize tangles and knots. It is better to gently untangle any knots when your hair is dry, than when it is wet and fragile.

Be gentle with your hair. Stop tugging hard at your hair especially when styling your hair. Invest in getting and using the right hair tools and natural hair products which do not harm your hair or scalp.

Trim your hair regularly to make it look healthy and snip off split ends. And even if you have to cut it short to remove split ends, it is best for your hair until it ‘heals’. Then you can have your hair growing back healthily to the length you desire.

When styling your hair especially, avoid applying or spraying too much hair styling products which are chemically induced to your hair. Such products are harmful to your scalp and hair. And if do use them, you must remove them at the end of the day. Leaving them on overnight suffocates and clogs your scalp and this is bad for your hair.

Although I mix and match 23 natural ingredients or recipes, I have never used even two recipes at the same time or within the same two weeks. I rotate according to a plan or schedule, depending on the progress or how my scalp and hair respond to the recipe or ingredient.

Like most remedies or treatments or even supplements and vitamins, using or consuming too much of a good thing can become bad for us and our health. Same thing applies for your scalp and hair.

Patience

Last but not least, be patient! This speaks for itself. Your scalp needs time to be rejuvenated and your hair needs time to grow. But how fast or slow you see results, depends very much on how vigilant you are every day in doing this whole hair care thing.

As I have discovered, knowing the secret tips, ingredients, recipes and wonders got me nowhere great. Knowing and doing the secret wonders teamed with commitment, discipline, tender loving care and patience, will give you great and fabulous results which lasts longer.
